Bad news first

Starting tomorrow we will start to notify, through our submission platforms, the films that didn’t make it to the SFF-rated 2011 edition.

We remind people that we do not send polite rejection messages -there is nothing polite about a rejection. Basically it means that either a) Your film was not good enough or b) our taste is not good enough. Naturally, you will stand by a), and we will stand by b)… er, sorry, the other way around.

But the point not to be forgotten is that, while it is important to be selected to screen in a festival, it is not important at all, when you’ re not. Life is not always symmetric.

By the end of  January our internal war of aesthetics will have been over, and everybody that has submitted a film to us will know. And then, all hell will break loose.

  1. Will you be sending out acceptance notices or revealing the program sometime soon?

  2. Not used anymore to dealing with messages full of sincerity …What a pleasure, what a relief!
Wishing you an excellent 2011 edition!

  3. Totally agreed. But I think it goes both ways.

  4. Wow, talk about encouraging people…

    • Actually, Figo, it is us that we need constant encouragement from the filmmakers, through their participation and their wow-movies. If the filmmakers weren’t around, this festival wouldn’t exist.
