The radio sponsoring was a success -plus the fact that we were screening Features that the Greek audience won’t, in all probability, have the chance to see again (except in the second screening during SFF-rated of course).
So the people came, and despite the rainy day and the numbness that people feel as they start to live in an economic downturn, SFF-rated 2009 had a good start, better than last year (which was better than the year before last etc ad infinitum).
And there is one thing that I won’t forget from that day: the Audience Award Competition for Features was on and people were casting their votes. But we had left space for them to write any additional comment they wanted. One of them, commenting on “The Dead Outside” of director Kerry Anne Mullaney wrote: “Give this girl a budget, and she will perform miracles”. That remark is what made my day after all the hassle to raise the festival’s curtain.
